Simon Kempston to play Silverton Memorial Hall September 20th

Inspired by Nature: The Slocan Valley art show at the Hidden Garden Gallery, New Denver

A very special art show is coming to New Denver’s Hidden Garden Gallery September 10th – 21st.

The Slocan Lake Gallery Society is putting on what has become an annual event: an eclectic group art exhibition showcasing artists from the Slocan Valley, and sometimes beyond. This year the show will be held at the Hidden Garden Gallery rather than the Silverton Gallery. The Gallery includes the fabulous garden that will feature some outdoor sculpture, and, weather permitting, the opening event to be held on Friday, September 12th at 7 pm.

The title and theme of this year’s show is Inspired by Nature: The Slocan Valley. The call for submissions went out to artists of all disciplines, including literary and performing arts. The opening night will feature poetry readings by Steve Lones, Nickie Cifarelli and more. Judy Wapp will read from her writings, and Lila Strand will read from her newly completed children’s book, The Star Children. A copy of the book will also be on display as will some of the original watercolor illustrations.

Kaslo’s guitarist supreme, Jan Van Gold will entertain, with original song writing and some great licks. We expect more artists to join the list – look for ads and posters.

Other featured visual artists are Tsuneko Kokubo, Barbara Brown, Cindy Moser, Grigg Stone, Judy Wapp, Patrizia Menton, Juscha Grunther, Matty Kakes, Steve Lones, Nancy Guise, Christine Sunbeam and Jan Van Gold. Master weavers Katharine Dickerson and Dianne Carter will be showing recent pieces, and Morgen Bardati will show a new textile piece. Sculpture by Rabi’a, Matty Kakes, Bergen Jacobs, and Ellie Scheepens will be on display, as well as nature-inspired jewellery by Teresa Smed and cedar weaving by Eloise Charet.

The Slocan Lake Gallery Society is pleased that many mediums and styles will be represented in this exhibition, all of them new creations by interesting and accomplished creators.

They are also thrilled to be hosting a literary and musical evening which will happen rain or shine! (we will move indoors if it rains)   And all pieces inspired by nature!

The Hidden Garden Gallery is located at 803 Kildare Street in New Denver.
